Who Kyckr is
Kyckr gives businesses live access to official company registers through one platform and one API. It was founded in Waterford, Ireland, in 2007 as Global Business Register, later moved its headquarters to Australia and took the Kyckr name, and has been owned since 2022 by Realwise, an Australian investment firm.
Its data comes from the register at the time of the request: company profiles with directors and shareholders, official filings as PDFs, and ownership traced across borders to the beneficial owners. Banks, fintechs, professional services firms and AML software platforms use it for KYB, which is why it is one of the business verification providers our merchant onboarding module connects to.
What it does in your platform
Merchant onboarding
Verifies each merchant's company against its official register while they apply: name, number, status and address, then directors and shareholders. Where ownership runs through other companies, it traces the chain to the beneficial owners, who then go through the KYC module.
How the connection works
One connector in the merchant onboarding module talks to Kyckr's REST API, with an API key held in the platform's secrets. What a register cannot answer at once becomes an order, which the module follows until the result is ready.
The merchant applies
In your app, with the company name and country. The module searches Kyckr, and the merchant confirms their company from the matches.
The basics are checked
A lite profile, fetched live from the register, confirms the name, number, registered address, legal form and status.
The full profile is ordered
The module requests an enhanced profile with directors and shareholders. Kyckr returns an order ID, and the module collects the profile once the register has answered.
Ownership is traced
For a company owned by other companies, UBO Verify follows the shareholders layer by layer to the individuals above the ownership threshold you set.
Documents if needed
Official filings your policy asks for are ordered from the register's list and delivered as PDFs, shown in the backoffice with the rest.
Your team decides
The owners go through the KYC module, and everything lands on one underwriting screen. Clear cases are approved by your rules; the rest wait for your underwriters.
Next to other providers
Kyckr sits in the module's business verification, next to Sumsub, Persona and OpenCorporates. Its registry data and documents sit next to the KYC module's identity checks and the credit data of a provider such as Creditsafe, all on the same underwriting screen.
The application screens and the underwriting queue belong to the module, not to Kyckr. Adding a provider next to it, or moving away from it later, does not change your app, and past checks stay in the merchant's record with the provider that made them.
When Kyckr fits best
A strong fit when
- You want company data straight from the official register at the time of the check.
- Your merchants have owners behind other companies, sometimes across borders, and you need the chain to the beneficial owners.
- Your policy asks for official register documents in the merchant's file.
Also worth a look
- An open database such as OpenCorporates, for a first match on every application.
- A provider that combines business and identity checks, such as Sumsub or Persona.
How we get you live
The contract
We help you get your Kyckr account and contract in place, set up for the countries your merchants come from.
The checks
We set up with you which checks run for which merchants, per country and merchant type: the profiles, the ownership threshold and the documents your policy asks for.
The keys
The API key goes into your platform's secrets and nowhere else, and every request to Kyckr is made from the platform, never from the app.
A full test run
The whole flow runs against Kyckr's test environment, from the search to ordered profiles and filings, before your first real merchant.
