Who Solidus Labs is
Solidus Labs is a compliance technology company founded in 2018 by Goldman Sachs veterans and headquartered in New York. Its HALO platform brings trade surveillance, transaction monitoring and case management together, and was built for crypto markets before reaching other asset classes.
Exchanges, brokers, market makers, custodians and regulators use it to detect manipulation such as spoofing, layering and wash trading across venues. That is why it is one of the market surveillance vendors our matching engine connects to.
What it does in your platform
Matching engine
Reads every order, change, cancellation and fill from your order books and looks for market abuse: spoofing, layering, wash trading, pump-and-dump schemes and more. Alerts go to your compliance team, with the trading behind them.
How the connection works
The engine streams its order and trade records to HALO, which Solidus can take in over Kafka or FIX. The credentials for HALO stay in your platform's secrets, and your compliance team works the alerts in HALO.
Orders are recorded
Every order, amendment, cancellation and fill in your engine is recorded in its audit trail.
Records reach HALO
The records stream to HALO, where Solidus maps them into one data model, next to market data from other venues.
Models look for abuse
HALO's detection models look for patterns such as spoofing, layering and wash trading, and can weigh on-chain activity and social sentiment too.
An alert is raised
Suspicious behaviour raises an alert in real time, against thresholds your team can tune and back-test without code.
A case is worked
Your compliance team investigates in HALO's case management and records the decision. Each alert traces back to the orders and fills in the engine's audit trail, which they also see in the admin backoffice.
Next to other providers
Solidus Labs and Eventus are the two market surveillance vendors the matching engine connects to. Both work from the engine's records of every order and fill.
The order books, the audit trail and the APIs your traders use belong to the engine. Choosing Solidus now, or moving to another surveillance vendor later, does not change your apps or your traders' integrations.
When Solidus Labs fits best
A strong fit when
- You run a crypto venue and want surveillance built around crypto market structure, on-chain activity included.
- Your compliance team wants trade surveillance, transaction monitoring and case management in one place.
- You want to tune alert thresholds yourselves and back-test them before they go live.
Also worth a look
- Eventus, the other surveillance vendor the engine connects to, with its multi-asset Validus platform.
- Wallet screening from Chainalysis, Elliptic or TRM Labs, through our KYC / AML module, for the on-chain side of compliance.
How we get you live
The contract
We help you get your Solidus Labs account and contract in place, with the HALO hosting region and the products your licence calls for.
The data
We map the engine's orders and fills to HALO's data schema with Solidus, and set up the stream over Kafka or FIX.
The keys
The credentials for HALO go into your platform's secrets and nowhere else, and only the surveillance connector uses them.
A full test run
The stream runs in a dedicated Solidus UAT environment first, where your team checks the alerts against test scenarios before your markets go live.
