Who LSEG is

LSEG, the London Stock Exchange Group, is a global financial markets infrastructure and data provider. Its four divisions are Data & Analytics, FTSE Russell, Risk Intelligence and Markets, and its data reaches firms through APIs, feeds and its Workspace desktop.

Risk Intelligence runs World-Check, a risk intelligence database built from reputable public-domain sources and used for KYC, AML and sanctions screening. LSEG also supplies real-time and historical market data, reference data and the WMR FX benchmarks, which is why it is a connector in four of our modules.

What it does in your platform

  • KYC / AML

Screens customers against World-Check at sign-up: sanctions, law enforcement, politically exposed persons and their relatives and associates, and adverse media. Possible matches become cases in the module's review queue, and high-risk customers stay under ongoing screening.

  • FX

Supplies reference rates, from real-time FX quotes to the WMR benchmark rates, so the module can compare its quotes with the market before your margin goes on top.

  • Market data

Feeds stock and FX quotes into the module, which filters out bad ticks and publishes one clean quote per asset to your apps and charts. Real-time access follows your LSEG licence, and the module shows real-time data only to the users it covers.

  • Portfolios

Provides the reference data behind each holding: instrument details, corporate actions such as dividends, and end-of-day market data for valuations, so positions and statements stay right.

How the connection works

Each module uses the LSEG service it needs: the World-Check One API for screening, and LSEG's real-time and reference data services for market data. The steps below follow a customer through screening.

  1. A case is created

When a customer signs up, the module sends their name and secondary details, such as date of birth, to the World-Check One API, which creates a case and screens it.

  2. World-Check answers

The case comes back with the possible matches, each with the World-Check record behind it, for your analysts to review.

  3. Your team resolves

Your analyst resolves each match in the backoffice. A World-Check record does not mean a person poses a risk, so the decision stays with your team, and it is logged.

  4. Ongoing screening

High-risk customers stay under ongoing screening, and World-Check One can push case updates to the module by webhook when new matches appear.

  5. Market data, separately

LSEG streams real-time quotes to the market data module, while reference data and corporate actions reach the portfolios module through LSEG's data APIs.

Next to other providers

In KYC / AML, World-Check sits next to ComplyAdvantage, Dow Jones and LexisNexis. In FX, LSEG rates sit next to Open Exchange Rates and the European Central Bank; in market data and portfolios, next to Twelve Data, with failover when a feed goes quiet.

Each module keeps its own screens, queues and data, so using LSEG in one module does not commit you to it in the others. Replacing it later does not change your apps.

When LSEG fits best

A strong fit when

  • Your compliance policy names World-Check as a screening source.
  • You want screening data and market data from one provider.
  • You quote currencies and want to compare your rates with the WMR benchmarks.

Also worth a look

  • A screening platform that also monitors transactions, such as ComplyAdvantage, if you want both in one place.
  • A second market data vendor, such as Twelve Data, so quotes fail over when one feed goes quiet.

How we get you live

  • The contract

We help you get your LSEG account and contracts in place: World-Check for screening, and the market and reference data licences your users need.

  • The screening setup

We set up World-Check One with your compliance team: the groups, the screening settings and which customers stay under ongoing screening.

  • The keys

World-Check One's API key and secret, and the data credentials, go into your platform's secrets and nowhere else.

  • A full test run

Screening is tested on a World-Check One pilot account before production, and the data feeds are checked end to end in the apps before launch.

Questions

Asked about this connector.

How do we get started with LSEG?

Talk to us. We help you get the LSEG contracts in place for the modules you need, set up World-Check and your data licences and connect them to your platform, then test screening on a pilot account before go-live.

Does a World-Check match mean we must reject the customer?

No. LSEG says inclusion in World-Check does not mean a person poses a risk. Your team reviews each match in the backoffice and records its decision.

Who holds the real-time data licence?

You do, in your own name. The market data module shows real-time data only to the users your licence covers.

Can we use LSEG in some modules only?

Yes. Each module has its own connector, so you can screen with World-Check and take market data elsewhere, or the other way round.
