What Visa Resolve Online does
Visa describes VROL as a dispute resolution platform that helps issuers and acquirers manage the dispute life cycle. The Visa Core Rules of 18 April 2026 require members to use it for:
- Processing a dispute, a dispute response or a dispute reversal
- Sending dispute documents and information
- Making and answering pre-arbitration and pre-compliance attempts
- Moving the dispute's funds, which VROL can submit on a member's behalf
What else runs through Visa Resolve Online
Visa's developer pages add transaction lookup, case filings, fraud reporting and exception file listings, with an API for adding a fraud report. Order Insight and Rapid Dispute Resolution are optional services of the platform.
Silence has a consequence. Under the Core Rules, when a member does not respond through VROL within the time allowed for an action, the dispute cycle is closed and that member is responsible for the last amount it received.
Why Visa Resolve Online matters to a payment provider
An acquirer or processor connects to VROL through its screens or its interfaces, and a payment provider's dispute module mirrors it. The module shows each case with its condition and deadline, collects the merchant's evidence in the form VROL's questionnaires ask for, and submits in time.
Because a missed deadline is a lost dispute, the deadline shown to the merchant is set earlier than Visa's.
